Dear Sir or Madam,
The trend in medical technology is towards ever smaller structures. If the scale of materials falls below certain dimensions, the usability of mechanical machining processes is only limited. Ultrashort pulsed lasers are used then. Clean, precise cuts become possible because the portioned laser light hardly causes heat in the material. This happens for example in the production of cardiovascular and neurovascular stents that have reduced strut widths and smaller cross sections. Read in our current interview how the use of ultrashort laser pulses develops in medical device manufacturing.
