The main target of the product is to be capable to interface all kinds of capacitive sensors and it will be live demonstrated at the company’s booth during COMPAMED 2012. The ESS112 can now offer customers an integrated solution with the following features:
Fully differential architecture interfacing up to 4 capacitances
High Resolution: Up to 19ENOB @ low Output Data Rates
Digital SPI, I2C and PWM outputs
Differential and single-ended analog outputs
Programmable Output Data Rate
Digital calibration and temperature compensation logic
On-chip Temperature Sensor
Integrated Non-Volatile OTP Memory
Integrated alarm functions
Low power modes of operation
Small die size (1.56mm x 1.64mm)
The ESS112 which is designed and manufactured in 0.18um CMOS technology, provides a high-resolution output, fully calibrated and temperature compensated based on the internal temperature sensor. The calibration coefficients are stored to the on chip memory, while the internal oscillator eliminates the need for any external components. With low power modes and other functionalities like alarms, ESS112 is all in one die.
“We are offering a complete capacitive readout solution, ready to be installed to any system without the need for any additional components” said THEON’s MEMS Business Unit Director, Emmanuel Zervakis. “We design and continuously enhance our readout electronics based on the customer needs. Not only we can offer high performance in combination with added key-features, but also we can offer minimal time to market at the lowest cost, supported by ESS/THEON business model on quality testing and optimization of its supply chain.
