Bluestar Silicones presents its new Silbione® HC2 2022, a soft skin adhesive gel for scar care and wound management, and new Bluesil™ ADD SLK1, an additive creating a silky smooth finish on the surface of vulcanized parts without the need for a secondary coating process, at Compamed 2014, November 12-14 in Düsseldorf (Germany).
At Compamed 2014, Bluestar Silicones is presenting two new silicone solutions for the medical market:
New soft skin adhesive: Silbione® HC2 2022
Bluestar Silicones expands its range of solutions for soft skin adhesives.
Bluestar Silicones Silbione® HC2 2022 now offers the highest tack on the market, whilst ensuring no residue on the patient’s skin upon removal. Higher tack makes it possible to secure better adhesion of the wound dressing for better healing and increased wear times (further saving cost).
Bluestar Silicones Silbione® HC2 2022 is also optimized to be used with most coating processes, and along with a wide range of substrates (PU films, perforated films, open knit fabrics…)
The Bluestar Silicones Silbione® HC2 product range, dedicated to use in contact with open wounds, and compatible with subsequent sterilization, facilitate faster recovery by improving granulation and epithelisation of the wound bed, eliminate adherence to moist wounds, enable atraumatic removal of the wound dressing, and decrease overall treatment cost.
It encompasses a complete range of technologies for the design of wound management products, gels, foams, and RTVs, ellowing access to smart composite materials.
Tailor made silicone adhesives
Bluestar Silicone is keen to customize the Silbione® HC2 products to fit with OEMs specific requirements, for instance specific coating processes or dressings designs.
Biocompatible technologies with high safety level
The Silbione® HC2 product range is manufactured in an ISO 8 clean room part of a certified ISO 13485 facility. Bluestar Silicones can guarantee bioburden lower than 100 cfu/g according to ISO 11737-1. Products are biocompatible materials (according to ISO 10993) and they are guaranteed for microbial safety. This is a must for the manufacture of dressings that will be sterilized prior to contacting open wounds of patients.
New additive for Silky smooth finish: Bluesil™ ADD SLK1
Bluestar Silicones is also expanding its range of products with specific surface effect.
The inherent tackiness of low durometer silicone materials, while desirable in some applications, can create process and performance challenges in others.
To cope with the concerns related to blocking, and address applications where high slip and low skin drag are required, Bluestar Silicones is now proposing Bluesil™ ADD SLK1. Added into soft RTVs before curing, this additive creates a silky smooth finish on the surface of vulcanized parts without the need for a secondary coating process.
It is compatible with applications where biocompatibility is required.
Reinforced market position
“Increasing demand for silicones in medical applications for reducing patient pain and improving overall healthcare costs is the driver for intense innovation” says Pascal Chalvon-
Demersay, President of Bluestar Silicones. “After the 2012 Frost & Sullivan award highlighting the quality and the performance of our R&D teams and our capacity to bring innovative solutions to the Healthcare market, the innovative technology and the customized solutions provided by Bluestar Silicones Silbione® HC2 Silicone gels will reinforce the position of Bluestar Silicones as a partner of choice for all healthcare OEM’s.
COMPAMED will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany, from November 12 to 14, 2014.
Meet Bluestar Silicones in Hall 8b, booth E12.
