When it snaps in the bone or a defect occurs in human organs, implants do a good service. That well, that they are used more and more often in medicine.

COMPAMED.de's Special "Implants" is concerned with the metal prostheses and news from that area.

 
 

Radius fractures near the wrist are the most common fractures. Researchers at Rostock University now developed a new implant in order to fix such fractures more efficiently than before.

Implants for holes in the cardiac septum have one disadvantage: They can be recognised as a foreign matter by the immune system. Now Researchers from Göttingen are working on new components for the umbrella implant that can be reabsorbed by the body.
