To see, smell, taste, hear and feel - engineers are keen to rebuilt the human's five senses. But there are other senses in nature and physical phenomena that are suitable for sensors.

COMPAMED.de's Special "Sensors" is concerned with news from that area.

Zoologists from the University of Bonn and scientists of the Research Centre caesar, both in Germany got together in order to develop a new kind of sensor. The role model: The antennae of a small beetle that is sensitive to infrared wavelengths.
