Tradition of Innovation - The name of Beurer GmbH has been synonymous with high quality healthcare and well-being products for 95 years. Since the early days when Beurer first launched its heating pads on the market, the company has advanced to become a groundbreaking name in the health and well-being sectors, continuously creating innovative ideas and holding numerous patents. Today the assortment consists of more than 450 products of different product ranges.
Worldwide Locations - The German company with headquarters in Ulm (Swabia, Germany) has about 800 employees around the world and delivers to customers in over 110 countries. To meet the growing demand for Beurer products since its foundation in 1919, Beurer has continuously expanded its corporate structure. A facility in Uttenweiler, Germany, opened in 1983, while the company's Hungarian subsidiary Beurer Hungaria started operations in 1992. From 2006 Beurer began to move into the Far East, founding the Hong Kong-based Far East Ltd., and has continued to expand its global presence ever since, underpinning its success with ongoing investment in state-of-the-art production technology with short time-to-market. To ensure these high standards are maintained in the future, Beurer opened its Italian branch Beurer Italia SRL in 2008 and followed it with Beurer North America LP in the USA in 2010 and Beurer UK Manchester and Beurer France SAS in 2011. Beurer has expanded its global distribution network since early 2012, using its Italian and French locations as a basis. The subsidiary Beurer Medical Italia SRL was also founded in the same year. In 2014 Beurer founded a further subsidiary in Austria and in 2015 the Beurer Medical Hungaria Kft.
Logo: The original cat logo accompanied Beurer from the company's foundation in 1919 and first appeared on a Beurer heating pad – the product which formed the focus of corporate operations for decades and which wrote the first chapter of the Beurer success story. Although the logo has developed over time, to this day Beurer is the market leader for soothing heating products, and its success has continued under the new logo – now featuring the company's name in red lettering. The current product portfolio spans six sectors: "living", "medical", "therapy", "beauty", "babycare" and "sports".
History: In 1919, the year that Beurer was founded, its operations focused on cosy warmth. The founders, Kaethe and Eugen Beurer, produced and marketed the first heating pads in Germany and gradually expanded their portfolio of heating products. Beurer introduced the first thermostat-controlled heating pad in 1931 and registered a patent for a stepless temperature control in 1952. 26 years later, in 1978, Beurer successfully developed a maximum-safety high-speed bed warmer featuring a microprocessor-controlled signal wire, followed in 1986 by an automatic switch-off function and in 2001 by Smart Technology, an overheating protection function which is activated immediately if the device overheats. In addition to innovative technology, Beurer has constantly been at the forefront of product development, identifying and leading new trends.
Development of the product range: In the 1980s the Ulm-based company predicted the rise of the fitness movement. Beurer began to expand its "health and well-being" sector from 1987 onwards, first launching the production, sale and marketing of infrared lamps, massage and blood pressure monitors and later adding more product groups including "air", "weight", "beauty" and "medical".
Beurer debuted at the Berlin-based consumer electronics fair IFA in 2009 and presented its new range of massage products, focusing on traditional shiatsu massage and expanded systematically the range of wellness and beauty products. In addition to the wide range of wellness products, Beurer launched a new range of beauty products including HairCare products, hair removal products, microdermabrasion devices and facial cleansing brushes. At the IFA 2106 Beurer presented approx. 65 new products, including the innovative SleepLine. This range has a positive effect on the processes of falling asleep, staying asleep and waking up.
Interconnected technology / Beurer range of apps: Since 2012, the Beurer "Connect"- product range offers a modern man-product interface. Today, the health specialist enables with its extensive product range, including blood pressure and blood glucose monitors as well as activity sensors, a simple management of your health by transferring your measurements via Bluetooth®. In 2015, this trend led to a range of now ten Beurer-apps for different needs.
In 2015, Beurer joined Germany's elite of premium product and service suppliers when the traditional company was once again chosen by media and business experts as a "Brand of the Century" for its heating pads. And Beurer has also won over experts and customers alike in many other market sectors. In 2016 for example, the jury of the Plus X Award presented Beurer for the sixth year in a row with the title of "Most Innovative Healthcare Brand" and also the title of "Best Design Brand 2016/2017" and "Special Retailer’s Award of the year 2016". Beurer products frequently receive awards from Germany's consumer associations Stiftung Warentest and Oeko-Test, as well as the design accolade "Red Dot: Product Design" award. The German Pharmacists' Association chose the Beurer BM 55 blood pressure monitor as "Blood Pressure Monitor of the Year" for two years in succession – 2015 and 2014. Beurer's Eco-Line kitchen and personal scales – which are 100% powered by solar cells – received the "Blaue Engel" award for their environmental friendliness. All these products and awards demonstrate the high quality and innovative performance of Beurer, the Ulm-based specialist in health and well-being.
