Af Temperature & Shape Setting of Nitinol

Shape memory alloys like NiTi (Nitinol) require special equipment for adjusting the Af-temperatures and shapes of medical devices like stents and frames.

MeKo has the know-how and the equipment to ensure the precise setting of these sensitive requirements.

• Full range of furnaces: chamber, salt bathes.
• Shape setting, Af temperature setting.
• QUALITY inspection:
  ○ Differential Scanning Calorimeter DSC.
  ○ Bend and Free Recovery BFR.

A good passivated surface decreases/eliminates heavy metal ion release and improves corrosion resistance, thereby reducing negative tissue reactions. This, in turn, improves biocompatibility of medical pruducts like stents and frames.

MeKo has developed optimum passivation processes for different materials, e.g. 316LVM, L605, NiTi. Surface passivations of medical devices are verified by corrosion measurements.

• Special enhanced CorReSurf passivation process.
• Automated passivation, neutralisation and surface cleaning of stents.
• QUALITY processes inspection:
  ○ Potentiostatic measurements.
  ○ Cyclic potentiodynamic measurements.

Final Cleaning

Implants (e.g. stents and frames have to be free of any particulates and residuals. The required cleanliness and purity of surfaces places high demands on final cleaning.

We have undertaken great efforts to optimize the cleaning processes of medical devices.

• Special automated cleaning systems
• Multi-stage processes
• Use of only the most pure liquids/fluids for rinsing
• Special trained cleaning operators
• Cleaning in clean rooms
• Special precautions to avoid contaminations
• QUALITY inspection:
  ○ continuously 100% surface inspection
  ○ purity control of the liquid purities
