About us

Company details

The life sciences community in Georgia is a rich mix of medical device, Health IT, pharmaceutical, diagnostic and medical supply companies. With more than 400 life sciences companies in the state, including 150 medical device companies. Georgia is number one in Health IT among US states.

Georgia is also a leader in international trade with total exports of $39 billion in 2015. With the support of 11 representatives abroad including Europe and the UK, exports of Georgia medical devices, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals exceeded $1.3 billion last year.

In addition to these exports, Georgia is home to world-class assets for public health. The premier public health research institute in the world, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is headquartered in Atlanta and employs more than 7,000 scientists. The headquarters of several world-renowned nonprofit organizations active in health are also in Georgia, including The American Cancer Society, The Carter Center, the Arthritis Foundation and the American Red Cross.

Georgia has cultivated an environment to help life science companies grow through unique public-private partnerships, innovative academic and university research and a highly skilled workforce. The Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI), one of Georgia’s many assets, is an independent, not-for-profit, full service product development organization and the first and only one of its kind in the southeastern U.S.

Georgia products can reach markets anywhere in the world through its world class logistics network from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport to the deepwater ports of Brunswick and Savannah.

IrriMax -
Irrimax Corporation is focused on treating and preventing surgical infections, reducing healthcare costs, and improving patient outcomes.  The company’s flagship product is Irrisept®, an FDA-cleared, patented jet lavage system, containing low concentration Chlorhexidine Gluconate (CHG) 0.05% in sterile water for irrigation, to clean a wound.  The mechanical action of Irrisept helps remove bacteria, particulate and debris without harming underlying tissues.  In log reduction studies, exposure to 0.05% CHG solution at one minute resulted in 99.999% reduction of MRSA, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other bacteria associated with hospital acquired infections.

OB Medical-
OBMedical is an FDA cleared electronic maternal-fetal monitoring (“EFM”) company improving the health and safety of women and babies during pregnancy and childbirth.   Our LaborView product provides contraction, fetal and maternal heartrate information and is designed as a plug into to your existing monitor.
LaborView is generally more accurate and reliable than ultrasound, leading to less internal monitoring, especially for the obese.  The LaborView system  comprises four elements: a disposable Sensor Array (picks up signals from the skin), a Transmitter (digitizes and wirelessly transmits signals), a Base Station (determines uterine activity and heart rates using our proprietary digital signal processing), and custom cables that interface to existing major makes and models of monitors.  The core of the system is a proprietary patented algorithm that helps identify the signals detected by the disposable electrode array.

WebOps and Medddbase offer a comprehensive set of services including order fulfilment, physical storage, logistics, inventory management software and customer services to medical device manufacturers and distributors. By leveraging decades of experience, warehouse locations in the U.S. and Europe and state of the art technology like the WebOps Logistics software, clients benefit from a lower total operation cost, reduced risk and a rapid market launch.
The WebOps Logistics Platform is a critical component of the service offering that provides inventory tracking and visibility through the latest mobile and automated data capture technologies, keeping sales, operations and customer service on the same page in real-time.

Georgia Center for Medical Innovation-
The Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI) is the Southeast’s first and only comprehensive medical device innovation center, dedicated to accelerating development, building businesses and improving health. GCMI opened its doors in April 2012 and to date has worked with over 60 different startups, clinician innovators, university tech transfer offices and academic researchers to design, engineer, prototype, and facilitate commercialization of a broad range of innovative medical devices.
