Analytical instrumentation

Sias is a leading developer and supplier of innovative multi-tipped robotic liquid handling systems and robot friendly functional modules for Laboratory Automation. Sias' products are used for life science and generic laboratory liquid handling applications and OEM integration.

The robots are equipped with 1, 4, or 8 needles. Each needle can be controlled separately in it's XYZ-motion. The needle is used as a 'sample transporter'. Because a system liquid such as water is used and separated by a small air bubble from the sample, the sample never gets into the pump. After sampling the needle is flushed.

Due to the compact design of the pumps, the pump system resides in the robotic arm, leaving the deck free for application samples and modules.
Sias has proven the concept for more than 10 years. Sias has gained a good knowledge of the operational parameters of the pumps so that they can guarantee the precision and accuracy of the pumps and their systems.

Automation of sample preparation for analytics

RPD Tool technologies is a Swiss company that offers a sophisticated tool for automation of analytical workflows in R&D, quality control, production, analytical and biological science.

The SamplePrep is the solution for automation of analytical sample preparation compatible with all standard Chromatography systems (UPLC, HPLC) and other analytical devices (IC, ICP/MS etc.). The flexibility of the system and the large number of available modules ensure that almost all types of sample preparation can be automated on a single platform. Liquid handling with 2-4 channels in a dosing range of 5 µl to 100 ml and a pipetting range of 5 µl to 10 ml can be integrated together with a lot of other options (sample grinding, solvent extraction, filtration, centrifugation, weighing, cooling and heating ). The standard deviation between 0.5 and 1 ml is as low as approx. 0.2 %.

Direct connection to chromatographic instruments or other analytical devices is possible. All steps of automated sample preparation are compliant to CFR21 part 11.

Novasep has a 25-year experience in developing industrial-scale continuous chromatography systems for the purification of biomolecules and polypeptides. These systems are already used in more than 20 commercial active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing processes (also successfully audited by FDA).

With the bench-top system BioSC® LAB you benefit from an unparalleled expertise in designing continuous chromatography systems applied to biopharmaceuticals applications.

BioSC® is based on a sequential multi-column chromatography design. The system is composed of 2 to 6 columns connected in series. When the resin of column 1 is fully loaded, the asynchronous feed connection system isolates column 1 for elution while continuing the capture process with the remaining columns of the row. There is no stopping or slowing down of the feed flow rate. Once column 1 is equilibrated, the system puts it back in the process line and column 2 can undergo the elution step. The repetition of steps A to C generates a continuous chromatography process.

The BioSC® allows for a fully automated, flexible and highly productive operation for process development. The continuous chromatography at low pressures reduces resin and buffer consumption by 50-75%.

Important is the precise application of the sample material. Micro annular gear pumps of the hermetic inert series with their high precision, low pulsation and high reproducibility are ideal for this task.

Micro annular gear pumps (mzr®-pumps) which make conventional applications more effective and open new technology fields are made at our location in Mecklenburg-West Pomerania from the initial idea over the construction and assembly up to the validity check.

Started in 1998 by a team of 5 in Parchim, our company now counts 78 employees. Since January 2013, the company is located in Schwerin.
In addition to construction, development, quality assurance and assembly, we have a technical service team and a specialized technical sales team consisting of engineers and scientists.

Due to our innovative ideas in the field of micro technology, we are considered as one of Mecklenburg-West Pomerania high-tech companies and have received numerous awards. In 1999, we were awarded the Ludwig-Bölkow-Technology Prize by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Schwerin. In the same year, we received the Design Award in the category ‘product design’. In December 2010, we were selected as a prize-winner of the nationwide innovation competition ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ for the continued development and optimization of our micropumps.

In May 2016 our CEO Dr. Thomas Weisener was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 in the category Business Development.
