Hemo Control Hemoglobin Analyzer

Simple, accurate and reliable hemoglobin and hematocrit measurement in three easy steps

EKF Diagnostics’ Hemo Control is a point-of-care hemoglobin analyzer designed to provide quantitative, lab quality hemoglobin results from 25 seconds.

Hemo Control uses the most established photometric azide methemoglobin method ensuring reliable results with a high precision (CV <2%).

Hemo Control is used in blood banks, hospitals and doctors’ offices for routine screening for anaemia. And, due to its backlit screen, a soft-load cuvette holder and integrated rechargeable battery, it is the perfect analyzer for stationary use and mobile settings.

In addition to providing hemoglobin measurement Hemo Control also calculates hematocrit.

The Hemo Control analyzer features a bi-directional interface using a public standard protocol that allows direct integration with third party software. 
Advanced data management functions are available with the Hemo Control Manager version of the device and  the basic Hemo Control device can be upgraded with data management functions at a later point of time (a unique market feature).

The ‘Add Pack’ Data management is an ideal future option for customers who plan for an implementation into a hospital or lab information system but are not yet in a position to do so for technological or budgetary reasons.

EKF's Hemo Connect and Hemo Connect Light software remain available for customers who wish to use data management and data export functions, independent from LIS integration.

Biosen C-Line & Biosen S-Line

Lab accurate glucose and lactate measurement in one test

The Biosen series of glucose analyzers include three different models and are a familiar brand name in laboratories and diabetes clinics.

Biosen analyzers can be manufactured as single channel glucose systems or as dual channel systems that can measure lactate at the same time.

Biosen uses a special chip sensor technology to deliver fast measurements with a high degree of accuracy at a low cost per test. Due to the long life of the sensor chip the system requires little maintenance, features such as the touch screen and large memory only add to the Biosen analyzer’s user-friendliness.

All Biosen analyzers are supplied with an interface to connect to hospital or lab information systems (LIS). An integrated barcode reader and printer are also available with most configurations.
Biosen can test blood, plasma or serum to provide glucose and lactate values with excellent precision (less than >2% CV) over a wide measurement range.

Quo-Lab™ A1c

A revolution in HbA1c measurement

Quo-Lab™ A1c is a desktop point-of-care analyzer for measuring glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c).

The semi-automated analyzer has been designed specifically to meet the needs of diabetes clinics and laboratories in settings that demand low cost of operation and ease of use.

DiaSpect Tm

EKF Diagnostics’ DiaSpect Tm is the world’s fastest hemoglobin analyzer. DiaSpect Tm delivers laboratory quality results in just about one second of the microcuvette being placed into the analyzer.

The analyzer is palm-sized, making it easily transportable, and because it has no moving parts it can be used in any screening setting in any environment.

DiaSpect’s ‘always-on’ technology means that professionals can start to use the device immediately and the rechargeable internal battery, which provides up to 40 days continuous use, provides the flexibility of not needing a power source for weeks at a time.

Lactate Scout+

Lactate Scout+ is used by clinicians around the world for the easy and reliable measurement of lactate. It was developed primarily for use in sports medicine but has found other applications within medical and veterinary medicine.

Lactate Scout+ is a hand-held lactate analyzer that requires just 0.2 µl of capillary blood and returns results in 10 seconds. Up to 250 results can be stored on the device which also features stopwatch and count down timers for performance measurement.

Beta-Hydroxybutyrate

The Stanbio Chemistry LiquiColor® Beta-Hydroxybutyrate (B-HB) reagent is used to detect ketones to identify patients suffering from diabetic ketoacidosis, amongst many other clinical applications.

B-HB is the most predominate ketone present during DKA and trends with a patient’s clinical status. Since the BHB assay is quantitative it can be used for monitoring ketosis to resolution, making it the superior ketone test.

Quo-Test A1c

EKF Diagnostics' Quo-Test™ analyzer has been designed for easy and reliable HbA1c measurement for the monitoring and management of diabetes in a point-of-care setting such as diabetes clinics and doctors’ surgeries.

The Quo-Test HbA1c is a fully automated hemoglobin A1c analyzer that uses patented boronate fluorescence quenching technology to measure glycated hemoglobin from a 4 μl sample taken from a finger prick or venous whole blood.

Sample results are available within four minutes and are reported in IFCC and DCCT standard units (Mono S & JDS reporting are also available). Quo-Test is unaffected by most hemoglobin variants.

Glycated Serum Protein LiquiColor® test verified for Siemens Vista chemistry analyzer

EKF Diagnostics, the global in vitro diagnostics company, announces that its newly introduced Glycated Serum Protein (GSP) LiquiColor® diabetic biomarker test has been verified for use on the Siemens Vista chemistry analyzer.

In a scientific poster published by scientists at the Memorial Healthcare System, Hollywood, USA [1], it was demonstrated that EKF’s GSP assay enhances the versatility of the Vista system for the specialized glycemic monitoring of diabetics with hemoglobinopathies, or conditions that affect red blood cell (RBC) lifespan.

Daily blood glucose and HbA1c are used as short and long term (3-4 month) measures of glycemic control respectively. However, HbA1c values may be adversely affected by patients with hemoglobin variants or conditions that affect RBC lifespan such as anemia and dialysis to name a few, while GSP as a 2-3 week indicator of blood glucose, is unaffected. Traditional NBT assays for fructosamine (or GSP), used as an alternative test for diabetes patients with hemoglobinopathies and pregnant women, suffer from a variety of interferences. Due to these analytical issues, the Memorial Healthcare System scientists required a reliable alternative that could be adapted to their existing analyzer. Therefore, the EKF Diagnostics GSP assay was evaluated and validated using an open channel user defined method. 

The scientific poster authors concluded that EKF’s GSP assay provides laboratories with a simple, sensitive and fast alternative glycemic monitoring test without the endogenous substance interference that are typically observed in NBT based colorimetric assays.   

“We are pleased with the recognition by the Memorial Health System of the value of our GSP diabetic biomarker test which is based on a double enzymatic degradation method. This provides superior specificity, accuracy and reliability compared to the older non-enzymatic fructosamine NBT method,” said Al Blanco, Business Unit Director – Central Lab at EKF Diagnostics. 

He added, “As a 2-3 week indicator of average blood glucose which is unaffected by RBC half-life, GSP closes the information gap between daily blood glucose and HbA1c testing. This means that GSP serves as an accurate intermediate marker of glycemia in instances where HbA1c may be of limited value, such as pregnancy, reduced RBC lifespan and hemodialysis.”
