Product: Orion Wireless Enuresis Monitor
Enuresis monitors are the most commonly recommended course of treatment for prolonged bed wetting. eg technology has developed the Orion monitor to trigger an alarm when the child starts to urinate, the child will begin to associate the feeling of a full bladder with waking, training them to wake and visit the toilet before urinating.
Capillary Film Technology Ltd commissioned eg technology to collaborate on the design and development of the PICA (Precision Immunoassay Capillary Analyser), including its associated disposable cartridge, to showcase their microcapillary film technology.
CFT’s CEO, Dr Paul Heaney, says “This was a truly collaborative project in which egt’s multidisciplinary team synergised with CFT’s scientists and engineers to develop a highly innovative solution and an excellent product. At CFT we are delighted with the system”.
Carclo commissioned eg technology to design and prototype exemplar products to show the potential of their flexible circuit technology. These needed to demonstrate the breadth of possibilities which could be delivered by the circuits which include sensing, printed antennae, 3D circuit form and mounting of small and large electronic component package sizes.
The VivoSight’s patented technology allows clinicians to examine the epidermis and superficial dermis layers of the skin with unprecedented resolution. However, the ergonomics and aesthetics of the device showed significant room for improvement.
Michelson Diagnostics asked eg technology to undertake a detailed redesign of the product trolley and enclosure, including the assembly methodology of the functional elements of the VivoSight OCT system. Working in partnership with Michelson, our first task was to understand how the product was being used and how it could be improved.
EMS Physio is a leading supplier of physiotherapy products. eg technology was briefed by EMS to develop a new product image and casing for the Primo Ultrasound range, improving ergonomics and usability whilst reducing the manufacturing cost.
Sphere Medical is a Cambridge-based company responsible for a range of monitoring and diagnostic products. Their goal is to allow near real-time measurement of blood gases, electrolytes and drug levels with laboratory accuracy, at the patient's bedside.
Their Pelorus instrument is the world’s first commercially available device that allows real-time measurement of the concentration of propofol, the powerful intravenous anaesthetic, in the patient’s blood. Being able to rely on accurate, real-time readings of the actual, rather than merely predicted, concentration is hugely significant in delivering safer, more appropriate treatment.
Abcam supplies antibodies to research laboratories around the world. They needed to optimise the efficiency of transporting these antibodies to their global customers. eg technology’s design team developed an innovative visual and practical design for the packaging that saved transportation costs, improved thermal performance, reinforced the Abcam brand and enhanced product presentation. 3D models made from Abcam bricks now feature in labs around the world.
eg technology’s design team were able to use their expertise in fluidics, software development, mechanical engineering, regulatory compliance and transfer to manufacture to develop a system that reliably processes blood samples effectively and efficiently.
The design team was instrumental in enabling ANGLE’s vision to become a reality and the Parsortix cell separation device was successfully brought to market for clinical use.
Heartfelt Technologies are in the process of developing a novel approach to monitoring patients for signs of cardiac failure. They use a multi-camera, wall mounted system that addresses the complicated problem of patient compliance by eliminating the need for patient interaction.
They asked eg technology to create a functioning prototype so that they can demonstrate and develop the concept.
The Heartfelt Technologies approach looks for physical signs of cardiac failure by imaging and analysis of changes in physical features.
Heartfelt Technologies asked eg technology to design and manufacture a prototype of their wall mounted, infrared light projecting, 3D scanner. They needed their challenging design criteria to be met on a limited budget. The design team worked closely with Heartfelt Technologies to ensure the product’s precise, multi-camera functionality was a success.
