FD140 Flow Driver

The FD140 is a new generation flow driver for high flow masks or helmet CPAP and high flow humidified oxygen therapy (HFHOT).

The system includes:

1. An interactive LCD touch screen
2. Lifetime paramagnetic O2 sensor
3. Intelligent alarm management including high and low pressure and apnea alarms
4. 60 min internal battery life
5. Integrated drug nebuliser

The FD140 flow driver is significantly quieter than alternative high flow drivers benefiting patients, visitors and care providers.

Patients in intensive care units suffer from sleep deprivation arising from nursing interventions and ambient noise which may exacerbate confusion and ICU-related delirium. Unit-wide noise reduction programmes should be considered.

Heater Humidifier

AquaVENT® Heater Humidifier
Flowkit has been designed to simplify the delivery of humidified non-invasive respiratory therapies.

Flowkit will aid the transition between respiratory therapies throughout the patient’s care pathway.

The AquaVENT® Heater Humidifier is used to warm and humidify gases delivered to patients who require respiratory support via a tracheal tube, face mask or nasal cannulae.

Invasive or non-invasive mode selection
Automatic temperature selection
Low and high temperature alarm
Over-temperature protection
Real-time temperature tracking display allows heated plate, chamber and airway temperature to be viewed
Digital display
Servo-controlled
The MaxVenturiTM provides users with the ability to mix ambient air and oxygen without the need for piped medical grade air, creating the perfect system for patients requiring high flow therapy.

AquaVENT® Heated Breathing Systems

AquaVENT® Heated Breathing Systems combine technological advances in thermal conductivity and breathing circuit construction to deliver optimal and controlled humidification.
Humidity management in patients with bypassed airways is essential to maintain normal lung function and help protect against hospital acquired infections. Active humidification is a gold standard for longer term patients in critical care.

Oxygen and medical air delivered invasively as dry gases, over sustained periods of time, will damage the epithelia of the respiratory tract and prevent  adequate functioning of the mucosal tissue in contact with the dry gases.

Inadequate humidification, in patients with bypassed airways, can disrupt secretion mobility across the mucocilliary transport system, leading to thickening of secretions, infective secretions, atelectasis or systemic infection[2] and has been reported to increase work of breathing and cause dehydration[3].

Maintaining secretion transport across the mucosal epithelium leads to better patient outcomes[1]. This can be achieved by delivering optimal humidification to the mechanically ventilated patient with bypassed airways.

BioCote® Antimicrobial Silver Technology

AquaVENT® Heated Breathing Systems are supplied with BioCote®, an antimicrobial silver additive to limit the numbers of microbes on the surface of the breathing circuit, protecting it from microbial colonisation.

Heated Wire
• Unique figure-of-eight heated wire design
• Electrical heating elements minimize formation of water condensate
• Heating elements energize the tubing, creating an insulator to heat loss

Chamber
• Internal chamber design ensures ideal conditions to allow optimal humidification of gases from the ventilator
• Compared to other commonly used chambers the AquaVENT® humidification chamber produces a level of humidity closer to 44mg/H2O.L over a range of tidal volumes
• Refills automatically
• Pinch clamp on feed line allows circuit leak testing with chamber in situ
• Compatible with many common heater humidifiers

Combi-Flex® Passive Humidification Circuits

Combi-Flex® 3 in 1
Convenient and easy to use, offering reduced potential for infection, improved drug delivery and efficient humidification.
Combi-Flex® 3 in 1 is a cost effective alternative for the management of ventilated patients.  A lightweight, single limb coaxial system which generates a thermally efficient micro-climate and provides optimal humidification, drug delivery and filtration.

Combi-Flex® 3 in 1 incorporates our HEPA HME filter. Combi-flex 3 in 1 is also available with Spirale® DDS which reduces the need to break the patient circuit for routine nebulisation and also improves the efficiency of drug delivery.

Reduced risk of infection
A HEPA filter HME provides moisture output of 33mg/H2O.L air
The use of Combi-Flex® 3 in 1 with Spirale® DDS optimises drug delivery
Minimal connections helps reduce set-up time
Convenient as all components are supplied in one sealed pack

About us

Company details

Armstrong Medical, based in Northern Ireland, was established in 1984 to manufacture and sell respiratory disposable products for critical care applications.

Since then the company has grown considerably to become a worldwide leading supplier of high quality, innovative respiratory disposables for anaesthesia and critical care.

We provide a wide range of disposable breathing systems, including resuscitation sets, Y-piece circuits, water-trap circuits and CPAP systems. For us, the challenge of meeting the needs of clinicians and medical staff has been perfected through our in-house custom design service which ensures breathing systems are designed and developed in a wide range of configurations and sizes.

An extensive range of accessories is also available to accompany our breathing systems, including anaesthesia face masks, breathing filters, catheter mounts and laryngeal airways.

Research and development is an integral part of the Armstrong Medical ethos with patient safety to the foreground at all times. AMSORB PLUS is one resulting example of this ethos; a unique carbon dioxide absorbent offering complete patient safety for anaesthetists and set to revolutionise the delivery of inhalational anaesthesia.

Armstrong Medical is committed to developing and delivering quality respiratory disposables which meet our customers’ every need and ultimately increase the quality of patient care provided by clinicians and medical staff.
