ChIP qPCR

Chromatrap® ChIP kits for qPCR rapidly improve ChIP using their unique patented technology streamlining the process, ensuring chromatin preparation to qPCR analysis can be performed in under 5 hours. The ChIP qPCR assay is a short convenient assay for low chromatin loading with very small slurry volumes (40μls) with no DNA clean up steps prior to qPCR.

By avoiding the use of magnetic or agarose beads, non-specific background is eliminated together with reduced manual handling errors and subsequent sample loss. Optimised elution buffer chemistry allows samples to be analysed directly in qPCR without the need for DNA clean up, further reducing sample loss.

The kits have been optimised for 1000ng sample sizes, which allows for better results from smaller sample sizes and greater flexibility as more IP assays can be performed from one sample.

  • Designed for qPCR as a downstream process only
  • Suitable for low chromatin loadings (1µg-10µg)
  • Contains sufficient Protein A or Protein G based spin-columns, buffers and reagents to perform 24 chromatin immunoprecipitations
  • Up to 10 chromatin preparations by sonication
  • An enzymatic shearing format is also available
Premium kits containing positive and negative antibody and primer sets to provide you with satisfaction of chromatin preparation are available. A high throughput format is also available allowing for multiple sample type, antibody and gene targets to be tested in parallel.

About us

Company details

Chromatrap® has been developed by Porvair Sciences in collaboration with Swansea University.

Porvair Sciences is part of Porvair plc, a specialist filtration company listed on the London Stock Exchange. They are one of the largest manufacturers of Ultra-Clean microplates, 96-Well Filter Plates and Microplate handling equipment for life science and synthetic chemistry, with over 25 years of experience in microplate manufacturing.

Full details of their activities may be found at www.microplates.com.

The potential of the patented filter used in Chromatrap® was first noticed by the Reproductive Biology and Gynaecological Oncology Group attached to Swansea University’s medical school.

In an academic/industrial partnership, the product range was developed to offer a faster, more sensitive method of chromatin immunoprecipitation. From an initial kit designed for PCR analysis, the technology has been developed into a full product range, particularly suited to small or low abundant biological samples.

The range is manufactured in Porvair’s bioscience facilities in North Wales and sold globally.

The novel solid state Chromatrap® protocols do differ from those used by other kit suppliers, including Active Motif, Diagenode, Cell Signalling Technology (CST), Abcam, Zymo Research and Epigentek, as these are all bead-based kits. It is therefore imperative that you carefully study the protocols used by Chromatrap first. We do not advise mixing buffers or washes from other manufacturers’ kits with Chromatrap® columns, as our superior solid-state chemistry may not be compatible with their kit components.
