Miniaturisation of implants – complex functions in minimal space
Apart from digitalization, molecularization and personalization, miniaturization is one of the main trends in medical technology. Especially intelligent micro-implants are on the rise and promise successful therapies, for example to monitor glaucoma, hearing difficulties and diabetes. While their size decreases, more and more functions and algorithms for analysis and - via microsystem technique - transmission channels for collected data are integrated into them. Read more about miniaturization and the newest developments in this area in our August Special.
New technologies for microimplants - the CerMet technology
State-of-the-art medical technology requires miniaturized devices offering additional and more complex functionalities. Which technologies will meet these requirements in the future? We are visiting Heraeus in Hanau, where the CerMet technology has been developed - particularly for miniaturized medical implants and sensors.
