State-of-the-art medical technology requires miniaturized devices offering additional and more complex functionalities. Which technologies will meet these requirements in the future? We are visiting Heraeus in Hanau, where the CerMet technology has been developed - particularly for miniaturized medical implants and sensors.
3D printing brings with it many design possibilities, and thus many different applications that are also of interest to medicine. At the BiomaTiCS research centre at the Mainz University Medical Center, Germany, we took a closer look at two different applications of 3D printing: the production of patient-specific models and bioprinting for regenerative medicine.
