Small, smaller, implants

Dear Sir or Madam,

Active implants and their components are becoming ever smaller while their functions become ever more complex. Will we be able to treat diseases by implanting microscale machines and computers into the body in the future? Most likely, we are still far away from this. Nevertheless, there are a lot of exciting things happening around the miniaturization of implants. Learn more about this in our current special.

Have a nice day!

Apart from digitalization, molecularization and personalization, miniaturization is one of the main trends in medical technology. Especially intelligent micro-implants are on the rise and promise successful therapies, for example to monitor glaucoma, hearing difficulties and diabetes. While their size decreases, more and more functions and algorithms for analysis and - via microsystem technique - transmission channels for collected data are integrated into them.
