Clinton, MA; May 23, 2005- NP Medical Inc., a wholly-owned company of Nypro Inc. announced it has acquired a complete line of IV filtration products from Millipore Corporation. The products, under the brand names IV Express™, Nutrivex™, Microvex™ and Epidex™, feature the most trusted design in IV filtration and contain the highest throughput membrane in the industry. The acquisition follows an aggressive plan to respond to the fluid delivery needs of the global OEM healthcare market. Randall S. Barko, President and CEO, Nypro Medical Products Group, parent company of NP Medical, made the announcement.
The IV Express is a .22µm filter designed to eliminate particles and micro organisms in an IV stream. Microvex is used for paediatric and ambulatory applications where minimizing hold up volume is critical. Nutrivex removes particles and micro organisms larger than 1.2 µm including Candida albicans in Total Nutrient Admixture. All these filtration products feature reliable air elimination and can be incorporated with gravity and pump sets. As a syringe driven filter, the Epidex is utilized in critical anaesthesia applications.
“The Nypro Medical Products Group is increasing its presence in the healthcare industry, “said Mr. Barko. “Our focus is to provide innovative solution to OEM healthcare customers who have an established distribution channel to the marketplace. As we expand and offer new technologies and capabilities, we will integrate complementary products and services that do not compete against any of Nypro’s customers’ products that are sold directly to the end-user.”
Through the acquisition of this product line from Millipore, NP Medical broadens its position in the fluid management market with multiple key technologies in fluid control. The agreement also includes an exclusive arrangement to provide NP Medical with the Millipore membrane allowing NP Medical to offer the same superior quality to the global marketplace.
