Patented by NSBProject, the platform is a digital compass for defining strategic innovation paths, capable of translating top research results into concrete guidelines for business competitiveness.
Mantua, 13 November 2025 – With twenty years of experience supporting industries and organizations in the field of innovation, NSBProject, an innovative SME and ISTAT-accredited research body specializing in technology transfer, launches CompetitorTechNavigator, the first AI-driven platform designed to support companies, investors, and start-ups in orienting their innovation and research investments. The platform can read, in real time, technological trends and the competitive positioning of key players in any given sector.
The idea behind NSBProject’s patented model is both simple and ambitious: to foster technology transfer. On the one hand, it equips innovative ideas, promising research results, and start-ups with a tool capable of mapping the roadmap that takes high-potential solutions to market. On the other, it allows companies to understand which technologies market leaders are adopting, how these impact performance, and how the frontier of research and industrial innovation is evolving.
NSBProject’s CompetitorTechNavigator enables the mapping and positioning of emerging solutions based on R&D investments, technological frontier trends, and industrial needs. By analyzing heterogeneous data and information, the tool compares scientific, technological, and market data, identifying the most promising areas for innovation and the development directions with the highest competitive impact.
“Our goal,” explain NSBProject’s founding managers, Fabrizio Riccomi (CEO) and Andrea Jester (Managing Director), “is to make technology transfer more accessible and faster, helping research meet the market and helping companies invest in the right technologies at the right moment. With CompetitorTechNavigator, we can guide research objectives on one side and provide companies with a strategic compass to understand where the market is heading and how to position themselves relative to sector leaders.
It is not just an analytical system: our CompetitorTechNavigator patent is a method to enable faster and more informed decisions. Investing in innovation always involves risks; with this tool, we can control and anticipate them. It helps identify not only where research stands today, but where it makes sense to go tomorrow to compete as leaders.”
The managers note that NSBProject, headquartered in Mantua and Mestre, has accompanied over €100 million in research projects in the past 12 months.
CompetitorTechNavigator is based on a hybrid analysis engine combining semantic search, similarity metrics, and European taxonomies, assigning each project both affinity and technological maturity scores. The model processes data from heterogeneous sources, as well as public and proprietary databases, and provides a visual summary showing:
● the level of technological competitiveness and R&D readiness
● emerging trends and the most promising development directions
● opportunities for industrial and technological collaboration
● areas of highest competitive potential within each sector
“The system’s AI uses data fusion and semantic mapping techniques to correlate projects, investments, and patents, creating a decision space where corporate strategy is based on evidence, not intuition,” explains Andrea Jester.
The overall analysis produces a research-priority map that reduces the time between experimentation and technology transfer, promoting an evidence-based approach to innovation.
“We are receiving strong interest from companies and research centers. For this reason, we have already launched a talent-selection process and expect to hire at least five more young professionals by 2025, reaching a team of more than 20 specialists by 2026,” concluded CEO Fabrizio Riccomi.
