The hospital of the future will house countless connected devices: imaging systems, infusion pumps, cardiac monitors, and a wide variety of robots. Each of these systems must be continuously monitored for vulnerabilities to prevent attackers from gaining access to the connected hospital system. At the same time, all devices can become platforms for their own algorithms that interact intelligently with one another.
Connectivity thus brings not only new opportunities but also new challenges for the MedTech industry: devices must be kept secure throughout their entire lifecycle through updates. Regulatory requirements are also becoming stricter. Interfaces with hospital systems are growing more complex, and with every new feature, there are more potential points of attack.
