phyCORE-i.MX 7

The phyCORE-i.MX 7 System on Module supports the next-generation NXP i.MX 7 single and dual-core application processors. Within a compact form factor, the SOM supports on-board DDR3, NAND, NOR, eMMC, Gigabit Ethernet PHY, RTC, power management, and provides a high number of interfaces for connecting up peripherals, such as PCIe, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, displays, camera, and sensors. Ideal for patient monitoring, industrial HMI, portable test and measurement applications.

In over 29 years of operations, PHYTEC has earned a reputation for high quality designs and production of OEM-able System on Module (SOM) subassemblies and Rapid Development Kits that accelerate microcontroller-based embedded developments. Founded in 1986 by Karl Neubecker, PHYTEC remains a majority family-owned enterprise, with minority ownership shares held by the managers of our operational divisions.

Hardware-design has become more complex; operating systems and development tools play a critical role. We Shorten your Time-to-Market, Reduce your Development Costs and Lower your Design Risk
Phytec provides bundled tools and Board-Support-Packages (BSPs) for our System on Modules in applicable Kits. This guarantee optimized operating system support and adaptation to our hardware.

Our Board Support Offerings
Our Windows Embedded and Linux kits provide a platform to jump start embedded designs and propel concept to prototype and finished product. Our BSPs encompass build tools and driver implementation to fast-track embedded application development.

Quality and Production-Ready Drivers
Phytec BSPs are adapted and optimized from BSPs provided by our semiconductor manufacturer partners. Maintenance and reuse are integral parts of our business model. We spend an equal amount of time on software development as on hardware development. Phytec contributes to the Linux Kernel.

All of our BSPs offer sophisticated drivers that are suitable for industrial applications. If you are interested in working with our products during an early development phase, we provide early access to our BSPs. Please be advised that not all board-level features are available when working with an early BSP version.

BSP Validation
We extensively test each BSP before it is released as part of our quality assurance and therefore provide a solid foundation on which our customers can base development of application software.

Production-Ready Open Source
Phytec's Linux distributions are focused on quality and include all required components such as drivers and build tools. All drivers are designed for long lifespan use and durability. These drivers are based and expand on source that is available from the community following initial publication by chip manufacturers. Our ultimate goal is to contribute to these optimizations to the Mainline-Linux

When new processors are released to market, the accompanying Linux releases provided by semiconductor manufacturers do not always focus on mainline conformance and architecting for sustained use in industry. Phytec, on the other hand, places an emphasis on these aspects to support our customers in all stages of embedded design.

Windows Embedded Development Environment
Our Windows Embedded kits include test version of the Windows Embedded development software. It includes VisualStudio and Platform Builder. The latter is an integrated development environment (IDE) for generating a binary image of the operating system.

Each Windows Embedded Kit includes a binary BSP. This includes binary drivers for hardware interfaces. The combination of Platform Builder and Binary BSP offer images of individual operating systems. This enables selected use of Windows components such as Internet Explorer, Silverlight, Frameworks or hardware drivers such as UART, I2C or Ethernet.

The main advantage of deploying a Phytec SOM is the availability of industrial-grade and production-ready drivers for the many features for our hardware.
