DuPont Tyvek® coveralls
DuPont™ Tyvek® Classic Xpert offers Superior Type 5 and Type 6 protection. Drawing on decades of experience in the field, the Tyvek® Classic Xpert garment offers enhanced protection against a range of threats, from water-based chemical liquid splashes, pharmaceutical and radioactive particulates to biological hazards.

DuPont™ Tyvek® Classic Plus garments combine the performance of a Type 4 coverall with the durability, protection and comfort of a Tyvek® suit. Tyvek® Classic Plus is made of Tyvek®, but the coveralls offer the added benefit of protective design features and over-taped seams. They help provide an effective barrier against many water-based inorganic chemicals in low concentration, small sized hazardous particles and biological hazards. These coveralls are ideal for occupations that require effective whole suit protection offered by a Type 4 suit because they are exposed to heavy liquid aerosols or toxic airborne solid particulates. Yet, being robust and breathable they help offer an ideal balance of chemical, particulate protection and comfort.

Tyvek® Labo act as a barrier that helps protect both the wearer from chemical threats, and the process from contamination by the wearer.

DuPont™ Tychem® Coveralls
Tychem® is an innovative fabric range comprising multiple barrier layers that help provide protection from chemical and biological hazards. Laminated to Tyvek® for strength, it offers a robust solution with a high level of chemical barrier at uncharacteristically low weight. Tychem® C coveralls  provide barrier protection against numerous concentrated inorganic chemicals and biological hazards. Tychem® 4000 S garments provide protection against highly concentrated inorganic and some organic chemicals. Designed for both maneuverability and comfort for enhanced wearer acceptance.  Tychem® F garments, offer the broadest chemical barrier, helping to protect personnel against numerous toxic industrial organic chemicals, highly concentrated inorganic chemicals (even pressurized), particulates, biohazards. Tychem® ThermoPro: sets a new standard for some of the high risk environments, providing 360° triple hazard protection from liquid-chemical splash, flash fire and electric arc.

Professional assistance is selecting the right protective solution

Advantages of DuPont™ Tyvek® for the pharmaceutical industry

Advantages of DuPont™ Tyvek®
DuPont understands the need to ensure contamination free work places and meeting strict pharma regulatory requirements. For this reason, DuPont protective garments provide reliable protection of workers as well as sensitive pharmaceutical processes and products, based on scientific expertise in people protection and unique properties of the lightweight and durable Tyvek® fabric.

Manufactured by a flash-spinning process, Tyvek® fabric is made of strong, continuous, high density polyethylene fibers. The fibers are thermally bonded into a tight, homogeneous and soft fabric that is intrinsically breathable, does not shed fibers (‘ linting ’) and has inherent barrier properties, i.e. not reliant on a thin applied coating or layer. This unique combination of barrier protection and inherent breathability makes Tyvek® an ideal fabric for a wide range of protective applications.  To learn more on protective powers of Tyvek® please go here.

Cleanroom Applications

In industries such as pharmaceuticals, food processing and electronics, keeping the products or processes clean and uncontaminated is crucial. Also, personal protection from hazardous substances requires an effective defense against biological and chemical substances.

With protective clothing of DuPont™ Tyvek®, these two forms of protection are combined into one.

People are the most serious source of particle emission in a cleanroom. Regular clothing can expose products or processes to material particle shedding, residues and foreign particles. Effective particle barrier clothing functions as a personal filter that protects cleanrooms from contamination by people. Depending on the model features and cleanroom conditions, unwashed and non-sterilised Tyvek® garments are suitable for use in many cleanroom classes, e.g. the 10 000 and 100 000 classes.

At the same time, some cleanroom work requires the protection of people from hazardous substances, such as liquid or solid chemicals or biological agents. These hazards occur not only in chemical, pharmaceutical and microbiological environments, but even in the production of computer chips or when painting under cleanroom conditions. Traditional cleanroom clothing simply does not provide adequate personal protection.

Both cleanroom clothing and chemical protective clothing need to meet the same basic criteria for use in a cleanroom: The material must be low-linting, the design must be sufficiently tight, and the danger of collecting particles on the surface of the garment must be minimised. Furthermore, such clothing must be comfortable to wear, have adequate electrostatic discharge efficiency and – if the clothing is required to be “germ-free”– sterilised garments made of Tyvek® as well as clean-laundered and sterilised garments made of Tyvek® IsoClean® are available from specialist cleanroom suppliers.

New!  DuPont™ Tyvek® IsoClean® for Controlled Environments

DuPont introduced a new CE certified Tyvek® IsoClean® portfolio of garments and accessories to answer the most demanding cleanroom requirements.  Tyvek® IsoClean® represents the lowest particle shedding within the DuPont portfolio and is offered in sterile and non-sterile options of packaging and processing. Clean-processed & sterile Tyvek® IsoClean® garments and accessories offer the highest level of contamination control and are an ideal balance of protection, durability and comfort. They are sterilized by gamma irradiation, specially processed and packed to minimize particle shedding and aid aseptic donning for better sterility risk management, while being suitable for cleanrooms GMP A&B (ISO 4/5, CLASS 10/100).  More information on the Tyvek® IsoClean® website.  Depending on the model features and cleanroom conditions, non-sterilized garments made of Tyvek® and Tyvek® IsoClean® are suitable for use in many cleanroom classes, typically GMP C&D (ISO 7/8, CLASS 10,000/100,000).

Tyvek® IsoClean® garments are ideal for use in cleanroom applications by operational personnel, maintenance, cleaning staff and visitors. They help:

  • Protect the cleanroom environment against human contamination
  • Not to generate contamination
  • Protect people against solid or liquid hazardous substances and biological hazards
  • Allow heat exchange, and air and moisture vapour permeability for the wearer’s comfort
  • Provide consistently high two-way protective performance, by virtue of being limited-use.
  • With a low weight and a high level of resistance to abrasion, protective clothing of Tyvek® is well-suited for limited-duration applications. Moreover, suits of Tyvek® are supplemented by a variety of protective accessories. Finally, protective clothing of Tyvek® is inexpensive in terms of waste disposal, as it can be disposed of via standard means according to legislation.

Meeting Global Challenges With Global Collaboration

DuPont is working inclusively with others to find innovative, science-enabled solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Inclusive innovation means global collaboration focused on feeding the world, reducing dependence on fossil fuels, and protecting what matters most.

It means hybrid seeds for harsh climates are field-tested by farmers to find the seeds that thrive. It is how solar installations that harvest more energy can be wired into the grid for a growing urban population.  And it makes plant-based replacements for petrochemicals a growing business that enables a shrinking carbon footprint.

DuPont believes that big challenges must be met by bigger science. Inclusive innovation is our approach to applying science to create solutions, on a scale no company, organization or country could accomplish alone.
