ULTRA Sterilization reels

New material, new performance!

The centralisation of sterilisation activities and subcontracting between hospitals or industrial units have exposed sterilisation packaging to new constraints such as providing resistance to mechanical shocks while at the same time ensuring aseptic conditions when opened at point of use.
In response to this problem, Amcor SPS presents Ultra : a new type of SBS* which will revolutionise packaging practices. Ultra consists of a surface in a completely new porous material with a non-woven base (90 g/m²) and a laminated film surface specially developed to increase peelability performance.
Sealing is carried out using a rotary sealer identical to the models currently used by healthcare facilities.
*SBS = Sterile Barrier System

Storage and Transport:
Ultra offers mechanical strength never before attained for packaging intended for steam sterilization.
Tests carried out show resistance to tearing or perforation up to 5 times greater than with conventional packaging.

Resistance to sterilization process:
By virtue of its design, Ultra considerably reduces the risks of bursting observed during steam sterilization (e.g. vacuum phases during pre-treatment). The preforming of the industrial seals is 4 or 5 times higher than the minimum value given by standard EN 868-5.

Peelability:
Through studies of the risks of aseptic faults when packaging is opened, up to 65 % non-compliance has been observed on standard-type packaging. Under the same opening conditions, Ultra eliminates any risk of defibration on opening, including on the two seals carried out by the user.

Specifications

  • High tensile strength (for packaging of heavy and / or bulky instruments trays)
  • Performances of “microbial barrier” superior to conventional materials
  • 3 times more resistant to puncture than standard materials
  • Excellent peelability providing aseptic conditions at point of use
  • Transparent web: visibility of contents
  • Shelf life: 5 years after manufacturing
  • Compatible with steam sterilization 134/18
  • Wide choice of sizes
  • No defibring, no particulate emissions.

Tensile Strength:
Puncture resistance test according to ASTM D3763: ULTRA is up to 4 times more resistant to perforation than conventional porous materials

The Ultra concept performances guarantee a lifetime of 5 years after manufacture.
In order to go further in the quality of its products, Amcor Flexibles SPS, with the help of one of its hospital partners, has launched a program to test the post-sterilization microbial barrier: an independent laboratory has validated these microbial barrier tests valid for more than 1 year.

With a wide choice of sizes, the Ultra ® range is particularly suitable for the packaging of your instrument trays and your surgical packs.
For better performances and to facilitate the packaging of your surgical compositions and other medical devices, we recommend using our Ultra® range with our Reel Dispenser and our “mini-kit” workstation

Peelable gusseted reels "BOP®" - 1 paper side/1 film side

With BOP® gusseted sterilization reels, it is now possible to achieve performance levels that are significantly high with competitive prices.
The BOP® gusseted reel offers a constant overall peelability, with very limited fiber emission, regardless of the speed and conditions of the opening.
The BOP® range reduces the risk of nosocomial infections, improving the comfort of use and especially the safety of the patient.

Specifications :

Shatterless Film
This film was designed to eliminate any risk of tearing, a major weakness of conventional products. Its tear strength, ten times greater than conventional films, eliminates any risk of tearing on the edges at the opening.

Paper :
BOP® gusseted reels paper is characterized by a surface treatment designed not only to provide a wide range ofsealing temperatures but also to significantly reduce fiber emission at opening.

Indicators :
Steam and EtO indicators (in accordance with ISO 11140-1) printed between the two layers of film (intrafilm)

Standards :
EN ISO 11607 & EN 868-5.
