pta

Medial knee arthrosis degenerates faster if the articular damage is associated with tibial varum and lateral ligament insufficiency. In such cases, only a metaphyseal realignment through tibial osteotomy can relieve pain and reduce effusion. If performed in the early stage of deterioration, the surgery will greatly reduce the inevitable course of osteoarthritis.
The PTA external fixation system is used for the correction of tibial varus through gradual distraction.
The surgery objective is to significantly improve the quality of life. The surgery is simple and quick, non-invasive, with only slight debilitation rehab postop with rare and easily manageable complications.

BSS

The “compression capability” of a differential screw is generated along the fracture line or nonunion due to the spacing adjustments between two bone fragments that occurs while turning the screw.

With each turn of a screwdriver the BSS screw advances 0.15mm.  The complete sinking of the 4 head threads requires advancing 0.6 mm over the fracture line or nonunion, which ensures excellent primary stability.  At the discretion of the surgeon, the screw can be sunk further resulting in a higher compression.  Warning:  a higher “compression capability” has a greater risk of an angular deformity in the case of an off-centered screw position or could lead to a shortening of the scaphoid in the case of nonunion.

The company was founded in 1978 with the ambition and spirit of challenge of medical device entrepreneurs who wanted to bring high-quality Italian products to the competitive orthopedic traumatology market.  Achieving this challenge allowed Mikai to establish itself in the surgical medical device sector with: excellent quality products, a wide array of devices dedicated to TRAUMA, HAND, ORTHO, SPINE and FOOT, highly technical skills and attention to detail.
Strongly focused on the research and development of innovative and technological solutions, Mikai has three divisions: Research and Development, Production and Customer Service located in Genoa and Vicenza, Italy. The highly innovative spirit upon which Mikai was founded is the same that motivates us today, and is present in every single product we design, develop and manufacture.

From laser scanning for 3D reproduction of internal project drawings presented from the technical office and CAD-CAM designs of the product to the manufacturing process ending in the machining plant, where man and technology work together to observe every detail and ensure the highest quality finished product.
