Intensive Care Ventilator System
The WILAmed INTENSA is a full invasive and non-invasive life-support ventilator, solely designed for the ventilation of the critically ill infant, pediatric or adult ICU patient.

Simple and intuitive interface
With its detachable 38.1 cm (15“) color TFT LCD touch screen the WILAmed INTENSA provides an intuitive interface, which can be rotated by 180 degrees around the user in many different directions and angles, allowing better observation and action.

Powerful monitoring functions  
The WILAmed INTENSA displays ventilator settings automatically in dedicated windows, showing up to five real time wave and loop forms which can be analyzed with the “FREEZE” function by using the intuitive cursor. Results of the measurements are automatically displayed on screen. The quality of the treatment and the safety of the patient during the entire time of ventilation is secured by an intelligent and highly effective alarm system, which is designed to prevent the patient from harmful events.
Lung mechanics monitoring
Advanced and automatic measurement of static compliance, airway resistance and intrinsic PEEP for easy determination of the most suitable ventilator settings according to the patient`s ventilatory patterns.

Optional Respiratory Gas Humidification for improved airway clearance
In normal respiration, the upper airway helps to warm and humidify inspired gas, and to retain the warmth and moisture contained in expired gas. During inspiration even cold or dry air is typically heated to 37 °C and fully saturated, containing 44 mg/L. In mechanical ventilation or anesthesia the patients upper airway may be bypassed by the introduction of a trachealor
tracheostomy tube. As a result the patient´s lungs may be confronted with dry inspired gas The drying and cooling effect is exacerbated by the presence of the tracheal- or tracheostomy tube, the normal process of reabsorption of heat and moisture by the upper airway during expiration is lost.

Prolonged exposure to dry ventilatory gases can lead to severe complications, such as:

  • Localized inflammation of the trachea
  • A reduction in ciliary function
  • Retention and thickening of secretions
  • Lowering of patients temperature
  • Reduction in cardio/pulmonary function
  • Increased risk of tracheostomy tube occlusion

Safe and reliable

WILAflow Elite allows proximal pressure monitoring without being affected by mechanical dead space in the closed loop and compliance. The device accurately measures patient’s airway pressure. This is the most recognizable method in the industry.

Optional Abdominal Respiratory Sensor available
The respiratory abdominal sensor enables the clinician to monitor for apnea/low breath rate in both nCPAP and BiPhasic modes.
The accessories include the reusable transducer and single-patient-use abdominal sensor. In the BiPhasic trigger mode, the respiratory abdominal sensor and transducer allow patient-triggered pressure assists with breath rate monitoring.

“Adequate humidification is essential to maintain airway clearance, optimize ventilation and improve patient comfort.”

Heated humidification is recommended for nCPAP therapy The normal functions of the nose and air passages of the respiratory tract are to warm, moisten and filter the inhaled gases before they reach the lungs. In normal respiration, the nasal mucosa and upper airways provide 75% of the heat and moisture supplied to the smaller airways and alveoli. By the time air reaches the alveoli, the inspired gas warms to 37°C at 100% relative humidity (RH).
With nCPAP, the upper airways are not bypassed, but the high gas flows may be drying to the airways, especially to a neonate’s underdeveloped lung.
