UK NEQAS Cellular Pathology Technique (CPT) is an international organisation providing a comprehensive range of accredited external quality assessment (EQA) and proficiency testing programmes for all aspects of tissue diagnostics. We provide a secure and established set of schemes, with a first-class reputation and an extensive and stable participant base for both clinical and non-clinical laboratories and organisations in the UK and across the globe. UK NEQAS CPT is a UKAS accredited proficiency testing provider No. 8268.
Our participating laboratories have collectively submitted over 190,000 slides to our scheme, to be graded by our experts, to guide and to ensure best practice and gold standard results. Our aim is to ensure that all our participants receive high quality, appropriate, clinically relevant and challenging samples that fully meet their facilitys requirements; and that our assessment of those samples is consistent, carried out by qualified assessors, graded and anonymously compared and peer reviewed.
Participation in EQA / proficiency testing programmes is part of UKAS laboratory accreditation standards under ISO 15189 and 17025, and therefore participation in all relevant schemes is mandatory to achieve this status. As part of UKAS laboratory accreditation status and its surveillance, proficiency testing participation and results are monitored and their success forms part of a laboratorys ability to maintain that status.
UK NEQAS CPT provides 6 runs per year and offers assessments in the following areas of pathology: Routine Cellular Pathology, Neuropathology, Renal Pathology, Muscle Histochemistry, Diagnostic Non Gynaecological cytology, Bone Marrow Trephine Biopsy Pathology (BMT), Mohs Procedure and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) pilot, and other specialist areas.
The UK is the only country to have developed such an accredited portfolio, committed to a process of continual improvement.
