The company was founded in Bogota, Colombia, in 1934 under the name of Colombian Sales Company. In 1941 Tecnoquimicas started to represent Alka-Seltzer® until 90´s. In 1950 was created Laboratorios Fixalia which was responsible for the pharmaceutical production of Tecnoquimicas S.A. In 1958 the company started to develop their own lines with the creation of Mac Donald, a line of beauty products. In 1980 Tecnoquimicas entered the disposable nappy market. In 1982 they obtained the license for the manufacture and distribution of Allergan products. In 1986 Tecnoquimicas acquired the Merck Sharp and Dome plant in Colombia. In the same year (1986) Tecnoclor S.A. was founded as a result of a joint venture between The Clorox International Company and Tecnoquimicas S.A. In 1993 The Organización Farmaceutica Americana (OFA S.A.) was acquired, and with it an important group of national brands as Sal de Frutas Lua, Yodora, Blankisima. They also acquired MK brand for the manufacture and marketing of pharmaceutical products in Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. In 1993 Tecnoquimicas started operations in Ecuador. In 1995 the process of acquiring national brands continued with the purchase of Noraver and Crema No4. In 1996 the International Adhesives Company Adhinter S.A. was created for the development of adhesive first aid products with the CureBand brand. In 1999 they purchased the Colbon brand, a leader in liquid glues in Colombia. In 2008 Tecnoquimicas opened its cotton production plant in Yumbo facility. In 2009 with the acquisition of Teramed, leading company in the pharmaceutical sector in El Salvador, Tecnoquimicas initiated its direct presence in Central America. In 2012 Tecnoquimicas entered in the oral serums market with the purchased of Hidraplus and Travad brands from Baxter Laboratories. In 2017 Tecnoquimicas relaunched its incontinence line of products Content, with highest standards of quality.
Today Tecnoquimicas count with more than 5000 employees, 120.000 clients at over 725 delivery points, 29 production areas in 11 plants.
