Automation of preparation for the analytical phase Colibrì™ system automatizes the preparation phase of the diagnostic activities maintaining a level of flexibility that allows the device to generate outputs compatible with other laboratory instruments. The operator selects the colonies and the activities to be performed, Colibrì™ receives this information and elaborates the sequence of mechanical actions that need to be reproduced in order to prepare the output in a format that can be introduced in the diagnostic devices own by the Microbiology Laboratory. Colibrì™ covers the preparation of targets for mass spectrometer identification, the preparation of plates and microbial suspension for Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test (AST). The instrument transfers the specimen information to other devices allowing traceability of the sample ID process.
Semi-automated puncher for Human DNA samples processing and traceability.
The intended use of the Card Processing Automation 200™ (CPA200™) is to fill a 96-wells PCR plate with humans saliva or blood samples extracted from COPAN NUCLEIC-CARD™ or other compatible sample collection devices.
Extraction is performed trough a cylindrical punch head (puncher), which detaches a paper disk from the card containing the DNA sample and places it into one well of the PCR plate underneath.
CPA200™ is a semi-automatic instrument: the user manually loads a card, chooses the position where to extract the DNA sample through a laser pointer and launches the punching operation, which is automatically performed by the system.
CPA200™ is compatible with all the sample collection devices currently present in the market, including COPAN NUCLEIC-CARD™, Whatman FTA™ cards, Bode Buccal DNA Collector™ and Bode Buccal 2™. Performances are optimized when processing Copan framed NUCLEIC-CARD™ with cleaning area: the user has the possibility to load a card on the integrated card holder, which automatically handles the card when punching and performs the cleaning strike to prevent any DNA carry-over effect.
A 96-wells PCR plate can contain up to 96 different Human DNA samples: for this reason, CPA200™ equips barcode readers to ensure the traceability of processed samples and a vision system in order to check the presence of disks inside plate wells.
Until today, CPA200™ instruments have been installed in forensic laboratories for Human DNA database-related activities. Future applications will belong to the clinical field (newborn screening and more…).
The modular automated platform for the incubation, storage, digitization and recording of inoculated bacteriology plates.
WASPLab® is the natural evolution of the WASP® project and Copan philosophy and takes care of the incubation/imaging of the plates and brings the customer into the world of Digital Bacteriology.
