The RP Check is a handheld respiratory pressure meter measuring mouth and nasal pressures (MIP, MEP and SNIP). Small, portable and lightweight, the RP Check allows paediatric and adult patients to be tested with ease in various settings including bedside and Out-patient clinics as well as preoperative assessment situations. The RP Check can be used as a battery operated, standalone device, saving the last patients results on the unit for report creation. Alternatively, the RP Check can be connected to PC software for upload of results or alternatively connected for “live testing” on the PC software for immediate report creation. Results are instantly displayed on a large backlit display allowing multiple tests to be performed per patient and concise user guidance, so compliance with ATS/ERS reproducibility can be achieved – ensuring quality test results are achieved. Pressure traces can be viewed on screen for each individual manoeuvre along with reproducibility guidance.
Ease of use is key in a busy smoking cessation clinic – from a single breath the results are instantly displayed in parts per million (PPM) and % carboxyhaemoglobin (%COHb), clear visual guidance is also provided with coloured red, yellow and green indicators dependent on the concentration of exhaled carbon monoxide, indicating if the person is a non-smoker, light smoker, or heavy smoker. Additionally the CO Check Pro is also capable of detecting environmental CO levels. When the Environmental Capture is enabled, background CO levels are taken into account when carrying out a breath test. If the background levels are 10ppm for example, then when the person is taking a breath test this background reading of 10ppm will be taken into account, allowing any possible environmental exposure to be clearly identified. Environmental levels are displayed in PPM.
