Osmomat 3000 Freezing point osmometer

The Gonotec® Single-Sample Freezing Point Osmometer is especially designed for routine measurements in the medical field and is also very suitable for measurements in research and industry.

The Osmomat 3000 determines the total osmolality of aqueous solutions. The instrument requires very small sample volumes and can thus be applied for extreme measuring tasks. Its rapidity allows serial measurements in a very short time.

Chloridmeter CM20 Chloridemeter

The Chloridemeter CM20 provides quick and exact determination of the chloride ion concentration in liquid micro samples with a minimum volume of 10 µl. 

Modern chloride titrators measure the amount of chloride directly in a sample and are based on the principle of coulometric titration by using an end point which is determined by measuring the current between two silver electrodes.

To meet the current and future need for chloride determination, a cutting-edge digital instrument has been developed by GONOTEC: The Chloridmeter CM20. 

The instrument has an easy, intuitive user interface with a modern touch screen and multi-language prompts, which lead the operator through the entire measurement process.

The instrument is factory calibrated so that manual calibration by lab personnel is not required. It can be equipped with an integrated printer and the results are sent in document-ready format or a PC for data transfer can be connected via USB or RS232.

Osmomat 050 Colloid osmometer

The Osmomat 050 has been especially developed for use in intensive care units.

It has been designed to be used on a 24 h/day 7 day/week basis and the system is always ready to collect data. The system performs all cleaning and control operations during the stand-by period so that the user can perform a measurement at any time. After performing a measurement, the Osmomat 050 is automatically cleaned so the next measurement can be performed as required.

Osmomat 010 Freezing point osmometer

The Osmomat 010 is a universal cryoscopic osmometer for the determination of molar masses in benzene solution and of the total osmolality in aqueous solutions.

It is based on the well accepted measuring system of the Osmomat 030, which has been used for many years.

The Osmomat 010 is suitable for measuring freezing points of solvents of aqueous and organic solutions which have a freezing point between +10 and -5°C.

The instrument is especially useful for rapid quality control measurements in industrial facilities as well as for research in scientific laboratories.

Osmomat 090 Membrane osmometer

The Osmomat 090 enables the measurement of the average molecular weight (Mn) of polymers that are soluble in aqueous or organic solvents within the range of 10,000 to 2,000,000 g/Mol.

The measurement is highly dependent on the membrane that is used. Gonotec offers membranes with different "cutoffs" that are made of different materials, so that a suitable configuration can be offered for most applications.

This cell unit must be operated by a Gonotec Control Unit SA or Control Unit B.

Control Unit SA

In addition to the control-, monitoring- and measuring functions, the unit leads the user through the entire measuring procedure and the final evaluation of the data.

In the evaluation process, all measurement parameters and results are summarized and treated via a statistical calculation. The average molecular weight Mn is the result.

All parameters, the measured values, the linear regression curve and the final result are summarized on a single page for printing.

Control Unit B

The control unit B includes all control-, monitoring- and measuring functions required for determination of the molecular weight.

The measuring parameters are manually adjusted by switches on the front panel of the device. The 4-digit display alternatively shows the actual measured result (1 digit is equivalent to 1mV) at the output of the amplifier or the actual temperature of the measuring cell. A potentiometric recorder can be connected to the control unit B (recommended sensitivity 1 Volt full scale).

The calculation of the final molecular weight Mn is performed by the user (the control unit SA offers a complete evaluation with a final report).

Just like so many other success stories, ours also begins in a garage. On July 1, 1979, chemist Klaus Noack and electrical engineer Harald Göritz register their company, Gonotec, with the Berlin-West Commercial Register. A garage, a laundry room, and the back room of an annex in Berlin-Lichterfelde serve as the first production facilities. The company founders, with bell-bottoms and sideburns, are now ready to stand on their own two feet and make their dream become reality: producing laboratory devices that are reliable and always reflect the latest technology.

Too much phosphate in Lake Tegel!
But they have to wait six months for their first order. Christmas of 1979 brings with it their first contract. Noack and Göritz are charged with finding out if the phosphate levels of Lake Tegel—a source of drinking water for the west part of the city at that time—are too high. The two get to work in their garage. This is where Gonotec’s particle test device is born.

And this is the start of the success story that continues today. In May 1980 they hire their first employees and the company moves to Berlin-Schöneberg, into their first real commercial facility. With seed capital from the bank, Noack and Göritz purchase their first production machines and develop the freezing point osmometer, which they name OSMOMAT 030. They hire more employees and their customer base grows.

International, innovative, successful
Today, 40 years after its founding, Gonotec is not only an international company, but also a global leader in many areas of osmometer technology. Our products are certified to ISO 13485. Gonotec osmometers are used on all five continents and in almost every country around the world. Medical, pharmaceutical, and biotech customers appreciate the accuracy and durability of Gonotec devices.

Thanks to short innovation cycles and ongoing development, we have been fulfilling the aspirations of Gonotec’s founders for 40 years and meeting the needs of our customers by reacting quickly to changes in technology. Devices such as the OSMOMAT 3000, which was developed in 2013, set the global standards for today’s technological innovations.

Starting at Gonotec as a student, Jan Celinšek succeeded Klaus Noack in 2001 to become General Manager. Technology that is “Made in Berlin”
Since 2008, Gonotec’s headquarters have been located on the banks of the Spree, where the company Herlitz once produced pencils and advent calendars. Ninety percent of Gonotec’s osmometers are still produced here today. This is quality “Made in Berlin” in the truest sense of the words. The international nature of Germany’s capital city is evident in our workforce: East and West, Muslim, Christian and secular, women and men all work together to achieve a common goal. Perhaps it is precisely this diversity that makes us who we are.
