StethoMe® Smart Stethoscope

StethoMe® is a smart electronic stethoscope working with a dedicated app and specially designed algorithms - StethoMe® AI. It enables auscultation of a patient’s lungs and heart. The stethoscope connects to the smartphone via Bluetooth. The patient makes recordings of auscultation sounds (saved in the app) and sends them to the StethoMe® AI system where they are analyzed by the algorithms.

StethoMe® notifies the patient when StethoMe® AI detects any abnormal sounds. The results are also received by physicians. They have a preview for advanced analysis of sounds and recordings in an audio-visual dashboard. 

StethoMe® AI is a smart sound analysis system based on AI algorithms that verify recordings of respiratory system sounds and heart sounds.

The analysis system identifies abnormal sounds caused by pulmonary infections, asthma, COPD, lower respiratory tract infections, cystic fibrosis, etc. The algorithms detect wheezes, rhonchi, and fine and coarse crackles.

StethoMe® AI can also act as an efficient cardiac screening solution. It identifies heart murmurs, aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, and mitral insufficiency. 

Our algorithms provide automatically additional information on respiratory and heart rates. 

The device has been certified in the EU as a class 2a medical device (CE 2274). The same certification class has been obtained for the AI algorithms within the scope of lung auscultation in children. The medical certification of AI algorithms is the first such certification in the world.

What does a physician hear during auscultation? - PLOS One Publication

How often do the physicians auscultate patients?  What does a physician hear during auscultation?  Do all physicians hear the same thing?  How successful are paediatricians in recognising abnormal sounds when compared to pulmonologists?

The StethoMe team, in collaboration with Prof. Anna Bręborowicz and Dr. Paweł Kleka, elaborated a publication answering these and other questions: The accuracy of lung auscultation in the practice of physicians and medical students.

CE Certification & The next development phase

The device has been certified in the EU as a class 2a medical device (CE 2274). The same certification class has been obtained for the AI algorithms within the scope of lung auscultation in children. The medical certification of AI algorithms is the first such certification in the world.

The next development phase:

We are working on obtaining further medical certifications for:
  • AI algorithms for the heart
  • AI algorithms for the respiratory system of adults
We have already been positively evaluated by a Notified Body, which constitutes one of the phases of extending the certification with new functionalities. We intend to close the certification process until the end of this year.
