AirSep PSA/VPSA Oxygen Products

PSA Oxygen Systems
These generators and plants operate automatically to supply patient, surgical, and critical care units in medical facilities, military field hospitals, on-site emergency preparedness centers, and disaster response and recovery efforts.

AirSep supplies both portable and wall-mounted medical oxygen concentrators for smaller clinics ranging in capacity from 8 LPM to 15 LPM. For larger hospitals with central piping, AirSep stationary generators with capacities up to 5,500 SCFH (144.6 Nm³/hr or 2,596 LPM) at 72.5 psig (500 kPa or 5.0 barg) are available as single train, duplex, or skidded turnkey systems. All HM Series systems are designed to deliver oxygen that meets the United States and European Pharmacopoeia Oxygen 93 Percent (93% ±3%) Monograph and fully assembled and tested in AirSep facilities. Unskidded, high purity (99% ±0.5%), containerized, and cylinder refilling options are available upon customer request.

Any AirSep Oxygen Generator can be packaged with other customer-specified or AirSep-recommended components to form complete Medical Oxygen Supply Systems, including automatic switch-over. In the unlikely event that the system deviates from preset limits, the automatic switch-over immediately switches to the secondary oxygen supply. System alarms alert the health care facility of the condition so that corrective service may be performed.

For customers who require portability or desire to supply oxygen to others, the cylinder filling option allows for the filling of as few as 8-100s of cylinders per day at up to 2,200 psig (15,169 kPa or 151.6 barg). If a self-sufficient secondary oxygen supply is needed, cost-efficient oxygen compressors designed to fill cylinders intermittently are available. AirSep also offers weatherproof and duplex systems (two independent systems with manual or automatic switch-over). For special applications, a high concentration module can be added to the system.

AirSep Medical Oxygen systems can be fabricated in accordance with all relevant local codes (e.g., ASME, ANSI, NEMA, CSA, CRN, CE/PED, TSG R0004-2009, HTM2022, ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 10083, and USPXXII Medical Oxygen Standards).

VPSA Oxygen Systems – Tonnage Plants
AirSep Tonnage Plants generate oxygen at nominal 93% concentration. These high efficiency VPSA oxygen plants operate automatically and unattended and include automatic turndown capability with real power savings, touch-screen control with remote monitoring capabilities, low power consumption, and on-line efficiency of 99%.

From 2,000 to 120,000 SCFH (53 to 3,155 Nm3/hr), AirSep supplies custom-engineered vacuum pressure swing adsorption (VPSA or VSA) oxygen systems.

Oxygen equipment pioneer AirSep, a division of CAIRE Inc., at the forefront in the global fight against COVID-19

Since the outbreak of novel coronavirus, COVID-19, AirSep Corporation, a division of CAIRE Inc., has seen a higher demand in oxygen generators globally particularly in Russia and the Ukraine.

Self-contained PSA oxygen generators, like AirSep’s Reliant and Centrox products, 220 V versions available for export only, are used primarily for medical oxygen supply. Larger than a traditional stationary oxygen concentrator, an AirSep oxygen generator can deliver higher pressure, 50 pound per square inch gage (PSIG) or higher, making it suitable for use with ventilators.

Recently medical clinics have set up ventilators to help support breathing in patients whose lungs have been seriously impacted by the COVID-19 virus. Many patients are experiencing shortness of breath and difficulty breathing due to the virus infecting the respiratory tract and damaging the lung’s alveoli, which is where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide passes.
To alleviate these harsh symptoms, Reliant and Centrox oxygen generators can connect directly to the ventilator and together these technologies supply oxygen to the patient allowing more time for their lungs to recover and regain function.

The portable Reliant and wall-mounted Centrox units are well-suited for smaller clinics that generally lack a central piping system. Equipped with air compressors, these generators require no special installation. The oxygen outlet connects to the oxygen distribution system and the power cord to a grounded electrical outlet. The unit can then be turned on and the oxygen flow rate may be set. Both systems feature an oxygen concentration monitor.

AirSep’s dedicated employees are delivering and pushing forward with expedited shipments to meet the demand of these products to customers that are depending upon AirSep oxygen products to care for critically ill patients during this unprecedented time.

“AirSep is committed to supporting customers worldwide with high quality products and services. I am confident we can deliver because we have some of the most talented people in this industry working diligently. We remain open and ensure we provide top-notch products while keeping our employees safe,” said Lawrence Hughes, AirSep Vice President and General Manager.

AirSep offers innovative, economical, non-cryogenic oxygen supply solutions as an alternative to cylinder or liquid supplies. For over 33 years, AirSep Oxygen Generators have been a proven alternative to any other oxygen source, reliably producing oxygen, 24/7. Easy-to-maintain, AirSep’s high-quality products offer the most cost effective, safest oxygen sources available.

PSA Oxygen: A Reliable, Safer Alternative for Hospitals and Medical Facilities

AirSep Corporation, a CAIRE Inc. company, develops innovative, economical, non-cryogenic oxygen supply solutions as a safer alternative to cylinder or liquid supplies- providing a reliable source of oxygen especially in regions with limited resources for oxygen distribution.

There are over 4,500 medical facilities worldwide relying on AirSep Oxygen Generators and Plants to meet their central pipeline and other clinical needs. More recently, the demand for PSA Oxygen has increased due to a shortage of oxygen supplies coupled with increased demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because these systems make oxygen on an as-needed basis, PSA Oxygen is continuously supplied.

AirSep offers both portable and wall-mounted medical Self-Contained Oxygen Generators for smaller clinics, ranging in capacity from 8 LPM to 15 LPM. For larger hospitals with central piping, AirSep Standard Oxygen Generators with capacities up to 5,500 SCFH at 72.5 psig are available as single train, duplex, or skidded turnkey systems. All HM Series systems are designed to deliver oxygen that meets the United States and European Pharmacopoeia Oxygen 93 Percent (93 percent ±3%) Monograph and are fully assembled and tested in AirSep facilities prior to shipping and installation. Unskidded, high purity (99 percent ±0.5%), containerized, and cylinder refilling options are available upon customer request.

PSA Process
PSA technology for oxygen utilizes a molecular sieve that adsorbs the nitrogen molecules and allows the oxygen molecules to pass through the adsorber (bed). During a PSA cycle, concentrated process gas (oxygen) is delivered to the end application while the waste gases (nitrogen) are desorbed.

Safe, Reliable and Easy to Use
AirSep PSA Oxygen Generator Systems offer significant safety benefits when compared to cylinder or liquid oxygen:

  • Reliable on-demand production (no vaporization loss)
  • No high-risk handling of hazardous high-pressure cylinders
  • Eliminates potential delivery and transport safety issues
  • Low cost maintenance and repair (consumable parts such as filter, oil changes, etc.)
  • Rapid startup and easy installation
  • Produces oxygen from an independent compressed air source

Advantages of AirSep PSA Oxygen Systems
One of the most significant advantages of an AirSep PSA Oxygen System is its efficiency, which results in cost savings of at least 50 percent. Cryogenic separation is very energy intensive, consuming a lot of electricity to achieve and maintain temperatures required for the gas separation process and the long-term storage of liquefied gases in cryogenic storage vessels.
Other advantages include:

  • Freedom from gas supply contracts;
  • Small footprint – no storage of large volumes of high-pressure cylinders or liquid dewars and tanks;
  • Automated systems capable of long-term unattended operation, collecting and transmitting operational parameters to remote locations for process management, and diagnostics and prognostics for condition-based maintenance;
  • PLC process control (standard color HMI touch screen are standard on models AS-Q to AS-Z, and optional on models AS-D+ to AS-P);
  • Can be fabricated in accordance with all relevant local codes and medical standards;
  • Customization options available upon request;
  • Global customer and technical service support from AirSep team
