Our products

Product category: Other components, modules, OEM equipment

Staple fiber nonwovens

For technical textiles with high elasticity and variable basis weight

Staple fiber nonwovens are made from staple fibers that nonwoven manufacturers usually buy in. These fibres are opened and blended before processing. The web is formed on carding machines with rotating rollers. If high basis weights are to be achieved, crosslappers are used.

Depending on the application, a wide range of raw materials can be processed, e.g. synthetic fibres including viscose as well as natural, glass and carbon fibres.

Classic fabrics with cotton warp threads and weft threads made of cotton or synthetic fibres such as viscose

These fabrics are mainly used in the HAKA sector, in shirts or trousers, but also for blouses in women's wear. These textiles are stable and usually have a smooth surface.

Composites: The Technologies

Efficient processes for high-performance technical textiles
Customer-specific solutions are one of our core competencies. A combination of different processes and materials is often required to meet these requirements. As the only company that covers almost all technologies for the production of technical textiles, we can offer a wide range of composites.

Composite materials can be manufactured using various processes.

In a single process step
Two different nonwoven forming processes are combined in a single process step, e.g. spunbond and meltblown technology (SMS for short: spunbond-meltblown-spunbond combination). For the lateral wetness protection of the diaper in hygiene applications, the spunbond layers effect the strength of the end product, while the meltblown layer ensures the waterproofness.

In two process steps
Two independently produced layers are bonded together in an additional process step. For example, in the Lutraflor® technology, Freudenberg Performance Materials needles spunbonded and staple fiber nonwovens together. Nonwovens are often laminated with films or foams, especially for medical applications. To adsorb odors, for example, activated carbon is impregnated into a foam, and the foam is then laminated with a nonwoven.
