NIRScout

Benefits of NIRScout
NIRScout is user-friendly, modular, and a robust functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) platform that measures hemodynamic responses to neuroactivation via oxy-, deoxy-, and total hemoglobin changes in the cerebral cortex. The NIRScout platform includes a variety of ready-to-use upgrades and modules to meet the needs of a wide range of cognitive neuroscience applications.

NIRScout (NSC) Advantages:



The ability to measure both topographic and tomographic measurements can place probes anywhere in the cortex.
Modular design allows for easy and efficient upgrades and increased coverage when needed.
Hyperscanning: a single system can synchronously acquire measurements from multiple subscribers simultaneously.
Illumination pattern (source ignition sequence) fully customizable, increasing sampling rate and preventing crosstalk.
Up to 255 trig input and up to 255 trig output.

NIRScout Extended Plus (NSXP) Benefits:

Can be configured to use laser sources, LED sources, or both, depending on your research needs.
Fiber-based system allows for reliable data acquisition in MR.
Ability to use 4-wavelength and 8-wavelength sources. Used to detect additional chromophores other than hemoglobin (i.e. cytochrome c oxidase).

The NIRSport2 was designed from the ground up as a research platform, but with motion and movement in mind. Integration solutions are provided. With a small form factor (162 mm x 125 mm x 60 mm) and weighing only 900 grams, it offers considerable versatility in motion-based applications. In addition, fixation and integration solutions are provided for applications with other modalities such as EEG, VR and MRI*.

The NIRSport2 comes bundled with Aurora fNIRS: our innovative software platform designed to maximize ease of use, flexibility and intuitive workflow.

With just a few clicks, you can set up a full experimental configuration with Aurora fNIRS. The automated signal optimization algorithm ensures optimal signal quality before starting a measurement. Once data is recorded, changes in HbO and Hb concentration can be visualized in real-time in multiple display modes. In addition, high-end whole-head visualizations are now available.

NIRSport2 extensions
Simultaneous physiological measurements with NIRxWINGS

The NIRxWINGS module for peripheral physiological measurements extends NIRSport2. You can acquire pulse oximetry (PPG), heart rate variability (HRV), oxygen saturation (SpO2), respiration, temperature, galvanic skin response (GSR) and bipolar signals such as EMG and ECG. All signals fully synchronized and in one data stream.

NIRxBorealis translates fMRI into fNIRS

NIRxBorealis couples up to two NIRSport2 devices with fiber-based optodes for fNIRS data acquisition in an MRI environment. The main advantage of this system is the flexibility to use the same NIRSport2 platform for both mobile and MRI-integrated experiments. NIRxBorealis provides the capability for low-profile fibers for transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).
